Current traditional therapies (antihistamines, decongestants, cortisone, etc.) is not satisfactory and can cause a variety of complications such as sedation, impaired learning/memory capacity, cardiac problems and the inability to perform daily activities.
Nineteen studies were selected. Lower vitamin D levels were associated with a higher allergic rhinitis prevalence only in children. The pooled mean vitamin D level in patients with allergic rhinitis was lower than that of controls only in children. Psoriasis is influenced by: environmental factors (infections and stress), poor dietary and exercise habits, smoking, alcohol consumption and food intolerances such as gluten sensitivity. This chronic disease has potential systemic complications such as abnormal plasma lipid metabolism, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, chronic systemic inflammation, obesity, higher body mass index, nutritional deficiencies and even nutrient-drug interactions. Because of the many treatment-related adverse events, patients with psoriasis are often unsatisfied with traditional medical treatments and are turning to the use of alternative and complementary medicine such as nutritional supplements. Supplementation with antioxidants coenzyme Q(10), vitamin E, and selenium could be feasible for the management of patients with severe forms of psoriasis. REFERENCE:

Studies suggest that acupuncture, mindfulness therapies, exercise, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals are effective in the treatment of mood disorders. More and more studies demonstrate a significant association between modifiable lifestyle factors and depression risk. Integrative medicine approaches can be used effectively in mild to moderate depression and in treatment-resistant depression. Even if complementary and alternative medicine therapies are not the primary treatment of mood disorders, the science is showing that such treatments should be taken in consideration. The studies available suggest folic acid has either antidepressant properties or can act as an augmenting agent for standard antidepressant treatment. Folic acid is a simple method of greatly improving the antidepressant action of fluoxetine and probably other antidepressants. REFERENCE:

Antioxidants can neutralize the reactive oxygen species and are used to treat inflammatory disease involving oxidative stress, such as periodontitis. Supplements such as coenzyme Q10 can reduce periodontal inflammation. Nutritional therapy should be considered as a new adjuvant therapy for the regeneration of lost periodontal tissues and the reduction of gingival inflammation. Coenzyme Q10 serves as an endogenous antioxidant and its increased concentration in the diseased gingiva effectively suppresses advanced periodontal inflammation. There was a significant improvement in all clinical parameters in the test sites seen at the end of the 4-week period. Sites with bleeding on probing were reduced more in the test group than in the control group. Coenzyme Q10 can be said to have a beneficial effect on periodontitis when used as an adjunct to scaling and root planing. REFERENCE:

It is part of a woman's natural aging process when the ovaries are producing lower levels of sexual hormones (estrogen and progesterone), the ovulation process is disturbed (no ovulation each month) and menstruations stops. Usually, menopause is declared when it has been 12 months in a row since your last menstrual period. Menopause is often accompanied by hot flashes, irritability, degenerative processes (arteriosclerosis, cardiovascular diseases), osteoporosis, weight gain, sleep disorder, atrophic changes of the skin, hair loss, etc. Clinical evidence exists on the effectiveness of using supplements in postmenopausal women. One of these supplements is the GRAPE SEED EXTRACT. Grape seed extract tablets containing either low-dose (100 mg/d) or high-dose (200 mg/d) proanthocyanidin, or placebo, for 8 weeks : grape seed proanthocyanidin extract is effective in improving the physical and psychological symptoms of menopause while increasing muscle mass and reducing blood pressure in middle-aged women. Surgical debulking and chemotherapy (cisplastin and oxiplatin) are the first line interventions.
Unfortunately, many patients experience recurrence and metastasis due to incomplete surgery and resistance of neoplastic cells to chemotherapy. Medicinal plants and nutraceuticals are containing flavones, flavonoids, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Resveratrol inhibits the growth of ovarian carcinoma cells in vitro through the inhibition of glucose metabolism and the induction of both autophagy and apoptosis. |
